FIMSA 2021 8th FIMSA Congress

ABOUT

Welcome Message

FIMSA

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The 8th Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania (FIMSA) Congress will be held from the 31st October – 3rd November 2021 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in Busan, Korea. This triannual Congress is hosted by The Korean Association of Immunologists (KAI). On behalf of FIMSA Councillors and the FIMSA 2021 Committee, I enthusiastically welcome you to FIMSA 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all had to adapt in how we interact and communicate with each other. Considering participant safety and ongoing restrictions in some regions, this Congress will be held as a hybrid event of physical and on-line sessions. Additionally, we hope that our virtual format will remove socioeconomic barriers associated with travel, rendering this conference more inclusive and accessible to a larger audience. Interaction between speakers and attendees will be facilitated virtually, and we are confident that FIMSA 2021 will serve as an ideal networking platform for Immunologists within the Asia-Pacific region

Our Scientific Program promises an exciting scientific agenda that is inclusive of Immunologists across regional and national societies. Over the past year we have witnessed how remarkable advances in medical science have allowed for the rapid development of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, and indeed, it is undoubtedly an amazing time to be an Immunologist! Reflecting this, the theme of this Congress is “Immunology for Humanity” echoing the connectivity between fundamental immunology and human health. We believe that this theme, interwoven throughout the Scientific Program, will serve as an inspiration to our FIMSA community.

We look forward to warmly welcoming you either in person or remotely,

Sincerely Yours,

Laura Mackay

President, Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania(FIMSA)

KAI

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings from Busan, Korea. It is a very special privilege to invite you on behalf of the Korean Association of Immunologists (KAI) to the 8th FIMSA Congress. As the president of KAI, I welcome you to this conference that is co-hosted by our organization along with FIMSA.

Considering the balance between vitality and safety, we will hold the conference in an online-offline hybrid format. We are excited to have opportunities to communicate with overseas friends and colleagues in both ways: face-to-face, albeit to a limited scale, and virtual.

We all acknowledge that immunology is so important for understanding many diseases affecting non-immune systems as well as the immune system, but the current pandemic is placing even more emphasis on the importance to us. This would be the reason we should devote more effort to our research.

This meeting will cover the latest immunologic findings presented by world-renowned scholars. We believe that this global networking can help share useful information on not only immunology itself but also how to overcome the pandemic crisis.

We hope that you enjoy the scientific sessions, culture, and leisure. We also hope that you have a pleasant time in Busan, Korea if you are traveling in person. We are looking forward to seeing you at this exciting hybrid meeting.

Best regards,

Jeehee Youn, Ph.D.

President of the Korean Association of Immunologists

FIMSA 2021

Dear Asia-Oceania Immunology Community,

Welcome to the FIMSA 2021!

On behalf of the organizing committee, I welcome your participation to the 8th FIMSA Congress (FIMSA 2021) which will be held between the periods of Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Busan, Korea.

This is the first FIMSA meeting held in KOREA and I strongly encourage you to visit Korea to experience the warmth of friendship and richness of Korean culture, in addition to scientific communication with FIMSA members.

Although the current stage of COVID-19 pandemic may hinder visiting Korea from abroad, I hope that by the end of Oct. 2021, this pandemic could be overcome by the efforts of our scientific fraternity. FIMSA 2021 will be held in an on/off-line hybrid format and the international registrants who cannot visit Korea physically will be able to participate through virtual presentations.

Our Scientific Program Committee, chaired by Eui-Cheol Shin, comprises a mix of immunologists from across all the members of FIMSA and put together an exciting inspiring scientific agenda. We have prepared special symposium on “COVID19 Immunology” and “Omics in Immunology”. Distinct scholars will give talks as plenary speakers or invited speakers in one of the excellent 12 block symposia. Also, young scientists will have a chance to give talks along with the distinct scholars.

With a warm heart of gratitude, we have prepared this 8th FIMSA meeting as a festival for FIMSA members and hope to enjoy extraordinary science and heartfelt companionship through this event.

We are looking forward to hosting you at this exciting hybrid FIMSA 2021 meeting.

Sincerely Yours,

Sin-Hyeog Im

Chair, Organizing Committee of FIMSA 2021
